Rory Dempsey is an Irish bass player working in London for the last 15 years.
Rory studied classical double bass at the Royal College of Music but enjoys a busy life performing in many different styles of music including classical, jazz, tango and pop. He has played live and in the studio for artists ranging from The Who, John Cale, Tim Minchin and James Blunt to electronic acts including Apex Twin, UNKLE and Goldie. He has worked with orchestras both in the double bass section and in the rhythm section, in big bands and small jazz combos.
Experience in a broad range of styles has allowed him to find consistent work, both on double bass and bass guitar, in many of London’s West End shows including: An American in Paris, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Top Hat, Wind in the Willows, The King and I and The Prince of Egypt and many others as a deputy.
